launching prints in my shop has been in the works for a while now. I will receive a proof of Persona (as shown above) by next week. I chose to try Whitewall for my printing, as recommended by a friend. I'm also considering making this print a limited edition with embellishments. Stay tuned!
I’m unsure where this painting is going, but I’m enjoying not knowing and playing with color and shape in an abstract mixed with figurative realism.
So, I discovered Canva! I love this program so much! I designed this brochure and many other things on my website using this tool. Also, the new incorporated AI tolls for any text are amazing because my grammar isn’t that great. I highly suggest this website if you're designing anything!
It was fun visiting one of my collectors’ houses and seeing the custom masks I made them hang on the wall and boy do they have some big walls! Also, you can see one of my first commissions hanging to the left in the entry way, so fun to see where you started and how you progress in skill through the years.
So I got the urge to paint abstracts; that's odd. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth! But yes, I always wanted to incorporate some abstract background into my highly realistic figurative paintings, so here's my first go at abstract!
Since I’ve been experimenting with abstract, I’m learning different techniques on my own and finding what feels good to me visually. I have a tendency to want to look at other artist work for ideas but I’m trying to just paint with no direction or reference. This is the first out of ten that I actually think looks good.
This painting took me forever to finish, but I couldn’t stop until i got it right! I titled this piece “I choose you”, which refers to my manifestation efforts in finding my “prince charming”. Every person has their own interpretation of the image and its always interesting to hear what people get from my artwork. I recently sold this piece to a young couple in Park City, Utah.
So I’ve been experimenting with resin! I wanted to figure out a way to make small pieces from the molds I already have and offer pieces at a lower price point for when I do art festivals. The sweet spot for most people is around $300 or less, and I think this turned out great. I mounted it on a marble base and gold leafed the patina with a mixture of wax and oil paint.
I've been on a much-needed vacation here in Maui for the summer, and I'm pushing my boundaries with abstract art! I didn't realize how uncomfortable I would be to try something different from what I've been doing my whole life.
I can describe the gratitude I have for winning first place with this piece in New York for the figures 24 show. I was amongst so many talented artists and of course I got to enjoy New York city for a few days.
I entered this painting into the portrait society’s annual show but wasn’t accepted. Theres some really though competition in that show but I’m determined to get in. It seems like the top 1% of artists are getting into that show but I don’t measure myself to shows i get into or not. Its apart of being an artist to accept rejection gracefully and to be naively persistent and resilient.
