They say every artwork is a self-portrait. This painting has multiple meanings for me, and one is censorship. I've always censored what I paint because I wanted to play it safe, but I refuse to censor myself anymore. Shine is about letting your inner sunshine out, using your voice, being brave, wanting change, standing up for yourself, being confident, and having self-love. Having a positive, hopeful outlook on the future, going into battle within yourself, and expressing who you are with grace and love.
