After creating this piece, I came across an article in The New York Times by Eric V. Copage, titled "Searching for a Jesus That Looks More Like Me."

Many cultures have their own interpretations of Jesus, allowing them to connect through cultural, spiritual, emotional, and visual familiarity. As an artist, I feel compelled to express a range of perspectives and points of view on subjects that matter to me and to the people around me. If God was created in our image, then this interpretation is equally valid. My hope with this piece is that someone can see themselves in my version, deepening their love and connection to spirit.
